This Website Privacy Policy explains what information the Center for Cognition and Compassion (“CCC”, “we”, “us”) collects through the website centercc.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Health information you share with us as a patient is protected under our separate Notice of Privacy Practices, which describes your rights under HIPAA and California’s Confidentiality of Medical Information Act.
Please do not send health information through this website
The contact forms and email links on this website are not a secure channel for clinical information. Please do not include diagnoses, symptoms, test results, medications or other health details in a web form or ordinary email. To share clinical information, call us at (323) 205-5352 and we will arrange a secure method. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
What we collect, where it comes from, and why
| Category | Source | Purpose | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers and contact details (name, email, phone, message) from the contact form and class, seminar or event registration forms | You | To reply to you and provide the class, event or service you asked about | As long as needed to reply to you and provide the service you asked about, then deleted |
| Quiz and exam answers (and any name or email you enter) on course pages | You | So the instructor can review results | As long as needed for the course and its records |
| Commercial information (what you bought, amount, date, transaction ID) | You and our payment processors | To process payments, issue refunds and keep required financial records | As long as tax and accounting law requires (generally up to 7 years) |
| Internet activity (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) in server logs | Your browser, automatically | To operate and secure the website | For the period our hosting provider keeps its server logs |
| Email you send us | You | To respond to you | As long as needed to respond and for our business records |
Our web forms are provided by WordPress plugins (Contact Form 7, Contact Form Entries and WPForms). Form submissions are emailed to us and are also stored in our website’s database, which is hosted by our web host.
Payments
Payments are processed by PayPal or Stripe. You enter your card or account details on the payment provider’s own page; we do not receive or store your full card number. PayPal’s and Stripe’s own privacy policies govern the information you give them.
Brain Development Weighted Inventory and other inventories
Our inventories (such as the Brain Development Weighted Inventory at /development) are completed by an adult (18 or older). When an adult answers questions about a child, the adult is our user, and we collect no information about the child. Your answers stay in your own web browser. The inventory does not send your answers to us or to anyone else. If you choose to share a result code or summary, the inventory opens your own email program with a pre-filled message; nothing is sent unless you send it yourself, and it travels through your email provider, not through us.
Sensitive personal information
Some information you give us may be sensitive (for example, health details in a message, or the login details clinicians use for our professional tools). We use sensitive personal information only to provide the service you asked for, and not to infer characteristics about you.
Cookies, analytics and tracking
- Session cookie (PHPSESSID): a temporary cookie used by our payment and form plugins to keep track of a visit. It contains no personal information and is deleted when you close your browser.
- Login cookies: set only for staff who sign in to manage the website, or for clinicians who sign in to our professional tools.
- Analytics: a Google Analytics plugin is installed but not configured, so no analytics tracking code runs and no analytics data is collected. If we turn on analytics, we will update this policy first.
- No session replay or keystroke logging: we do not record your mouse movements, keystrokes or screen sessions.
- Third parties: some pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser information and may collect it across the websites that use Google Fonts. See Google’s privacy policy. No other third party collects information about your activity across websites through our site.
Do Not Track: because we do not track you across websites, our site does not change its behavior when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some forms or payment pages may not work without them.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We disclose information only to service providers that help us run the website and our business — our web host, our email provider and our payment processors (PayPal and Stripe) — when required by law, or to protect the safety of any person.
California “Shine the Light” (Civil Code §1798.83): we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Your California privacy rights
We honor the following rights for California residents, whether or not the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to us:
- the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and with whom we disclosed it, and to receive a copy;
- the right to delete it (subject to legal exceptions, such as records we must keep);
- the right to correct inaccurate information;
- the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it);
- the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we already use it only to provide the service you request); and
- the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
How to make a request: email Ramezani@centercc.com or call (323) 205-5352. We will verify your identity by matching information you give us with the information we hold (for example, the email address you used), and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for your signed permission and may ask you to confirm your identity directly. Health information we hold as your provider is governed by HIPAA and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act; see our Notice of Privacy Practices for those rights.
Automated emails
Some automated messages are sent from a no-reply address. Replies to that address are not read; please write to Ramezani@centercc.com instead.
Children
This website is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No website or email system is completely secure, which is why we ask you not to send health information through web forms or ordinary email.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites (for example Instagram, PayPal and Stripe). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will also notify people whose email address we have. Please check this page from time to time.
